If there is an image, you just see the image, you don't see "<img align=top src='...'>" as well. The question here is what to turn "[D]<fen>" into. I suggested that this be turned into a diagram. Tim replied that he wanted to leave the FEN because he thought someone might snip it out in order to feed it to a program. That sounds fine to me. But the [D] is still weird and could be stripped *for display*. So "[D]<fen>" could convert to "<fen>" followed by a diagram. I suggested to Tim via email that you could have "[D]<fen><tags>" which would allow you to specify extra arguments to your diagram command. These would allow you to modify your diagram by adding captions and the like. You could highlight a specific piece or draw an arrow from one square to another. But that's more complicated and we might not see it soon, if ever. bruce
