I am not sure if this was the only reason because I think that after
1...Qxb2+ 2.Kd2 Rd8+(instead of Ra8) black has an advantage

for example 3.Ke1 Bc5 4.Kf1 Qb1+ 5.Be1 Nd5 6.Re4 Nc3 7.Qc4 Nxe4
or 3.Ke3 Qxe5+ 4.Kf2 Qc5+ 5.Kg3 Qg5+ 6.Kf2 Bc5+ 7.Kf1 Qc1+ 8.Be1 Nd5
