Subject: Regarding Josh, Age 12, Strength 100 Personality

Author: John Merlino

For those of you who have been discussing the "correct" way to test this
personality, I had no intention of this being a "serious" test (although I
should have known that some of you would see it that way). I just put the
question up to the board to satisfy my own interest in seeing if this
personality was indeed a strong one. Therefore, I thank anyone who has done any
testing and am looking forward to tallying up the results.

The development team has absolutely no forward-looking interest in this
personality, as the new engine for CM8K will almost certainly nullify any tests
that may have been done on old personalities.

Also, just so I wouldn't feel left out, I am currently running a 40/60
tournament between the pumped up Josh and Chessmaster. It started out as a
seesaw battle, and after 11 games it was 5.5-5.5. But Chessmaster has won the
last three in a row (although one was a duplicate of an earlier game), and the
15th game is going to be a draw. So the current score is 8.0-6.0 (minus dupes)in
favor of Chessmaster. I'll post the games when the tournament is done after the
16th game.

The only thing I've noticed is that Josh tends to win his games quicker than
Chessmaster, but I'm sure that there is not enough data to state that with
certainty. Josh's wins were in 48, 55 and 91 moves. Chessmaster's wins were in
72, 81, 87, 110 and 166 moves.
