How about ignoring the [D] stuff if there are >> characters on the front of lines? IE in an original post, the diagrams are neat... But in each follow-up post, they become tedius. Otherwise, I would suggest that this be used sparingly, where appropriate, rather than shotgun-style. It makes it harder to read text, and also greatly increases the download times for posts that have a couple of dozen of these things in 'em.
