The point of my post was that the 'Title' Kasparov won from Karpov in 1985 no
longer exists. Karpov became champion because he qualified through a legitimate
process to challenge Fischer and when Fischer refused to play he was awarded the
Title by default. Kasparov won the Title through a legitimate process earning
the right over the board to challenge and ultimately defeat Karpov over the
board. Since this process no longer exists the 'Title' Kasparov won no longer
exists. The FIDE Knockout is the only game in existence. We can argue its merits
or faults till the cows come home but the fact remains that it the only 'World
Championship' that the top players can compete for. The fact that GK refuses to
play in it does not alter that fact.
