IE in my program, if you slow it down enough, it will suddenly start to play much worse, rather than getting worse progressively as expected. It will get worse progressively, but only to a point, then 'crash'. This is because some of what I do is based on some minimal search depth. IE Crafty on a 486 has horrible null-move failures and is not hard to beat at all. The same program on a P5/133 suddenly beats GMs all the time on the chess servers.
