You might try assigning a lower rung in the move order to your pawn moves. If you are using MVV/LVA for your alpha-beta move ordering, you could include a small pawn-move penalty (other than pawn captures, of course) to lower their position in the move order. OTOH , in the endgame pawn moves might be preferable (ordered ahead of other moves). It's a thought. Bruce
