I agree with your assessment. Here is the complete data:
http://www.icdchess.com/ccc/message.html?87717

First: Most people will quote the 2492 number and say computers
are near GM. IMHO. The data supports you.

First, on the AMD and Intel 350 or less, I agree that program
performance based on this data is IM (2400 to 2500):

AMD K6II-350 TPR = 2427, PII-350 TPR = 2432

Now take a look at the data for the AMD K6II/K6III 400 and above
performance (GM strength of 2500 and above):

AMD K6III-400 TPR = 2591 Opp Avg = 2795 (+0 =1 -1)
AMD K6II-450 TPR = 2605 Opp Avg = 2398 (+2 =2 -0)
AMD K6III-600 TPR = 2537 Opp Avg = 2537 (+2 =4 -2)

Very impressive and above 2500 for 16 games against opponents rated
2398 to 2795! :)

All the games were played over an 8 month period!

The data for the PII 450+ over three games is the other side of
the coin:

PII-400 TPR = 2466 Opp Avg = 2466 (+0 =1 -0)
PII-450 TPR = 1785 Opp Avg = 2585 (+0 =0 -1)
PIII-500 TPR = 1666 Opp Avg = 2486 (+0 =0 -1)

So the pundants have three games on the less than GM (under 2500)
side IMHO. :)

So the Rebel/AMD K6II/III - 400 - 600 performed much better
than the Rebel PII/III - 400 - 500, Although the Intel boxes
had far fewer games. :)

IMHO: Rebel/AMD K6II/III 400MHZ and above playes close to 2550
performance and can perform close to 2600 performance ratings. :)

IMHO: The computer performance in the Isreal League play will have
similiar and perhaps better (as much as 100 points better IMHO). :)

Best Regards,
Chris Carson
