No question it could get into the low 2500s on faster hardware.

I guess I've always considered the barrier for GM to be higher than 2500.  I
think it takes closer to a 2600-level performance to earn the title.

But, I suppose you could argue that it's already playing at a "weak" GM level.
I once played a game against GM Aaron Summerscale, who had a very low FIDE
rating for a GM (somewhere in the 2400s).
