Sometimes, even the moderators themselves-(myself also)-should think
carefully before writing anything which may steal many hours from people
who are neglecting their work and family to read many postings. It consumes
a very costly amount of time and energy to read so many trivial things
off topic, and sometimes even on topic. Perhaps the titles should make
very clear if it is not of interest to many people e.g. a technical problem
about what many don't know to help, and don't need to know.
Moderators can help with this also, and in other things too.
In Israel rabbis have just ruled against all home use of internet. This
was international news headlines. It sounds very drastic, but their main
reason was because of damage cause-especially to youth from obscenities.
This rabbis ruling has no legal ramifications in israel but hundreds
of thousands rely on their rulings and act accordingly.
When I was telling someone about the moderators here standing guard
against foul language in discussion forum, he was quite possitively
moved, whereas he would normally look down on a respectable person of his
freinds using internet at all. Stuart (Or Shimon) Taylor
