I would add that even if Kasparov does play, the sponsor is not likely to get much publicity. As far as the general public is concerned, Deep Blue's fluky win against Kasparov has proven, once and for all, that computers can beat the best humans at chess. Serious chessplayers know better, and will continue to be interested in human vs. computer matches, but a sponsor probably needs more than that limited audience to make the venture profitable.
