So, WHY rebel tiger >came first ????? Rebel is a DOS based program written (IIRC) largely in assembly language. To do a Windows port of such a beast is an ENORMOUS effort. Chess Tiger is a C program which can be rewritten as a DLL or chess engine with a miniscule fraction of the energy and effort. Basically, a few tiny interface additions and recompile are all that would be needed for Tiger. I would have been utterly astounded if it had turned out the other way around. I suspect that the Rebel Windows version may be even later than planned, having done Windows conversions myself.
