The games from Round 7 of Enrique's torneo are now up. Go to http://www.computerschach.de/tourn/ and enjoy I have included a cross table, since all programs have now played the same number of games (40). About round seven Enrique writes: "As usual, Tiger did all it could to create weaknesses in the pawn structure of Hiarcs and played against them. Like its countryman Philidor, Tiger is convinced that “pawns are the soul of chess.” Many games went quickly to the ending, where Hiarcs is not dumb either. Maybe the most instructive was game 16, with Tiger showing that two rooks are not always better than a queen. For the rest, not much to say. The flu blinded the commentator." Okay, Enrique, drink a cup of hot tea with lemon and off to bed with you. Here's the end of game 16: [D]6k1/p1r2pp1/4p1p1/Q7/2rP4/4PP1P/6P1/6K1 w - - 0 39 The game continued: 39.Kf2 Kf8 40.f4 Rc2+ 41.Kf3 f6 42.g3 Kf7 43.Qb5 R2c4 44.d5 exd5 45.Qxd5+ Ke7 46.e4 Rc8 47.Qa5 Rc3+ 48.Kg4 R8c7 49.Qd5 R3c5 50.Qg8 Kd6 51.Qd8+ Kc6 52.Qe8+ Kb7 53.e5 g5 54.e6 gxf4 55.gxf4 Rc8 56.Qf7+ Kb6 57.e7 a5 58.Qxg7 Re8 59.Qxf6+ Kb5 60.f5 Rg8+ 61.Kf4 Rc4+ 62.Ke3 Re8 63.Qd6 Rec8 64.Qe5+ Kb4 65.f6 Rc3+ 66.Qxc3+ Rxc3+ 67.Kd2 Rc7 68.e8Q Rc4 69.f7 Rc5 70.f8Q Kb3 71.Qe6+ Rd5+ 72.Qxd5+ Kb2 73.Qb8+ Ka3 74.Qxa5# 1-0 This time I have included a proper cross table since all programs have played the same number of games (40).
