http://pc.astro.brandeis.edu/BRAG/people/dch/chess.html v3.11 is a new version after more than a year of no updates to EXchess. I've had very little time to work on EXchess in the past year, so the changes have accumulated slowly. EXchess now supports Nalimov endgame tablebases. The evaluation function has been completely re-written (for cleanliness and to make use of piece lists) - the results seems to be stronger play, but I will let the testers have the final word on that. I have also tweaked/improved a number of things about the search, so the program's tactics are quite a bit better than earlier versions. EXchess also has a logging feature now (turned off by default). A number of small bugs have been fixed, for example EXchess now supports analysis from arbitrary starting positions under Winboard. Both Linux and Windows versions have been released. As usual, I have also released the full source code. The windows version has been compiled with the Cygwin compiler tools (using gcc 2.95) and I have included the cygwin1.dll with that version. Thanks very much to the testers who downloaded a pre-release version of EXchess and reported back to me with bugs and suggested improvements. - Dan
