On the "GM's do not like to lose" comment I recall Yasser Sierawan's comment to a game he drew in the last Aegon Tournament. He was disgusted with himself for allowing the computer to get a draw (I believe the opponent was Cilk Chess). This I think typically describes all serious chess players - we want to win always and many times scourn draws as well. It's an an intense, fighting game that somehow draws you in totally during the playing experience. Aegon for me was a valid test ground for Human - Comp play for this reason. The players there surely gave their best determined effort to win every game. >I can not blame them, since the programs on 450+ machines >are playing at above average GM performance in match play! >IM Kaufman said it best in his Hiarcs review - IMHO. :) > >Tournament play means that the GM can not prepare for >only the machine, thus leveling the playing field - IMHO. :) > >BTW, the TWIC article is a good one - IMHO. :) > >Best Regards, >Chris Carson
