I have tested Crafty 17.04 under ChessBase with 4 piece EGTB's, and it shows
from the start on 1.c7 Nc8 (16.6 likes 1...Nd7 better). I didn't test without
TB's. The forced mate in 18 is possible only *after* 1...Kxc7, which is
therefore a mistake from black's view. So black plays different. Without the
TB's, Crafty has not yet seen the mate, and obviously thinks that the knight
moves are even worse than Kxc7 etc. The TB's provide an improvement here.

Btw., I think there are situations where TB's might be problem because of the
speed reduction, especially if the "solution" is a variation that runs along
positions which are not in the database (i.e., because trading moves are wrong
and the material is kept in the correct continuation).
This problem does not occur it seems, when the TB data is held in memory in a
compressed form. I've read Nimzo 7.32 has this, even resulting in a speed gain.
I remember posting this in rgcc, but got no response. Maybe too sophisticated. I
also don't have Nimzo 7.32 and again do not really know what I'm talking
about...
