Officially, because 'the event is not interesting anymore'. I am not sure
about the official statement AEGON made, all I remember is, that it was
something like this.

From other sources it was heard, that internal disagreement in the AEGON
company led to the end of the tournament. A big pity, since I have been
there many times and it is simply great. If organiser Cock de Gorter is
reading this post (he did a magnificent job, year after year), I hope he
is convinced we should start this great tournament again.
