I didn't think the point was comparison, but in any case I certainly think it would be an interesting chess variant to try. It seems like it would give the humans a crushing advantage, but maybe because of the time it would take to fiddle with the pieces the tradeoff would be less clear. It sounds as fun as any other chess variant. I'll have to try it myself and see if I can do any better against my computer. :)
