For some reason I thought you were from France or something, Ernst! If we don't
take care we'll all be speaking Dutch here...

Looking at the plydepths I can now reach with the Rebel ECTool engine on the
Celeron it almost makes me think that this must be the Masked Marvel that Dann
is being so secretive about...
Huge plydepths! That would have taken around a month with the 386.. The results
are not very interesting in themselves but I just wanted to show off a plydepth
of 19. With the Rebel ECTool engine there are no crashes but it cannot solve the
difficult first position. I think especially the quiet move 7.g3 that Ed talked
about is pruned away and the queen sacrifice at least initially too. I think
that just goes to show you that plydepth isn't everything. The larger the
plydepth the greater the chance that you accidentally prune away part of the
critical variation if that variation grows alongside the plydepth.

It does find 3. Nb3-a5 now -maybe it would also have found it at the second move
eventually- but does not find a line with 7.g3.
