Subject: DB logs: how common is this move format?

I noticed that DB's move notation in its PV is rather unusual, e.g.
	Rf1f7p
for "Rook f1 moves to f7, captures pawn".
(Hmmm, now where have I seen that before...? :-)
How many other program(mer)s are using this extra info (which piece was
captured) this way and what advantage does it offer?
