No.  You need a boot partition (at present) in the first 1024 cylinders of the
drive.  Someone on the linux SMP mailing list sent me email about a test version
of LILO that doesn't have this restriction, but I haven't seen it released yet
(although it is certainly possible0.

The simple solution is to install linux on the first partition which can
be any size, but beware of making it larger than 1024 cylinders).  You can
even make a 64mb partition to install the /boot stuff in, if you want...
