Subjects like "<whatever> sucks" is not a nice/ >scientific way to do this. Perhaps. Perhaps some dudes here need to wake up too. Big masses already tell me at university (so you obviously know who those big masses are: teachers and students) currently: "chess is solved by deep blue". Now you can cry that this is not true. For a BILLION people it is true, only about a million out of those billion that ever heart from the name 'chess', those might know a bit more. Anyhow. Companies agree with that billion. Many months i tried to get a hardware sponsor (so just BORROW a machine, not get it forever), couldn't get a single one. Only offers i got were from the computerchess world themselves. Only 2 parallel machines i could get: - dual ultrasparc 300Mhz from university Utrecht - quad xeon from Robert Hyatt Of course i was very happy with the generous offer of Bob. He even needed to physically transfer the big machine as the internal network is different from the external network, and also needed to go several times extra to the university to reboot it as i managed to get it hung several times. Still am happy about his offer. Have his offer for german open again. Yet, before 1998, this all was a lot simpler. Vincent >Kinds regards, > -sargon
