I'm pretty sure it was the dangling participle that broke the camel's back.

Did you ever see that old "Barney Miller" episode where an English professor
went berserk?  It seems an advertizement on the bus called pickles, "The
crun-crun-crunchiest" which clearly is not a real word.

As you can well imagine, butchery of the King's good English could easily push
someone over the edge.

Someone once used the definite article in a sentence when it clearly should have
been an *indefinite* article and look at the profound effect it had upon me.
Perhaps I shall never recover.
