"How Computers Play Chess" by Levy and Newborn

I found this book to be very helpful. It is mostly a history of computer
chess, but several of the key algorithms and ideas behind computer chess
are explained clearly - alpha-beta, aspiration alpha-beta, hash tables,
time control, iterative deepening, maintaining the principle variation,
etc... It might make a nice compliment to the program sources you have
downloaded already.
