I can state that my original install over WIN95 went smoothly, the problems arose when I installed over WIN98 (first edition) on a new computer. There is only one version of Extreme Chess on the market - I called the Extreme 3.10 and Extreme 4.01 engines "Fritz" - I guess the program is actually "Fritz4 Light" or something. Thanks a million! I simply put a shortcut on my desktop to XTREME.EXE on the CD-ROM and clicked on it. I was finally able to complete the startup sequence and play a game. All my previous settings, with a nonstandard name for the parent directory, were recognized. Appears the commercial startup screen was causing (GPF) problems with the process. Now that Extreme Chess has a (minimum) install, I can even run LAUNCH5.EXE and view the commercial before playing. I note that the Hash Table is apparently limited to 7728KB in Extreme Chess. Not really a problem, I mostly use this program to print games and analysis from my Fritz6 Demo program. Also I can use Extreme chess to enter a position for analysis in the Fritz6 Demo, which apparently can only start from the initial position. Thanks again, David
