Anyway, this gets me to wondering how you do against >(human style), programs like CS Tal & Rebel 10, or do you just use all that >'stuff', that ChessBase sells - Now fess up! -:) > No apology needed, really. I just didn't want someone to potentially spend a lot of time looking for an article that doesn't exist. I've mentioned my experiences with Doctor?2.0 maybe three of four times over the last couple of years, so that's why it seems longer. Chessplaying programs I use: All of the ChessBase stuff (in Sparring mode, Friend mode, and for analysis. Fritz6, the two Doctor?s, and Hiarcs7.32 are my faves, plus Junior when I have it tweaked up to look for sacs. I'm also partial to the latest Crafty engine. I don't use Winboard engines though -- they were taking up piles of hard drive space and I found I was seldom playing them anyway). Chessmaster 6000 (I like the 60 personalities). Power Chess 98 (very infrequently now -- I'm getting tired of it. Loads of fun while it lasted, though). Kasparov's Gambit (once in a while, because it's the only program I know of that lets you play a rated game without setting time controls -- perfect for use when I'm liable to be interrupted by the kids or by the wife or by the phone or...). Maurice Ashley Teaches Chess (speaking of my kids...). I own over 100 other chessplaying programs; almost all sit on the shelf collecting dust (along with my half-dozen dedicated chess computers). I don't own either of the other two programs you mentioned. -- Steve Lopez The Chess Kamikaze Home Page: http://www.geocities.com/ludekdudek/ The Chess Kamikaze Club: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/chesskamikazes
