Nominating/Election Rules
Please preface ALL posts dealing with the upcoming elections with the word
"ELECTIONS:" (just as all posts dealing with moderation issues should begin with
the word "MODERATION:")

We are now beginning the process of selecting our 3 CCC moderators for the
February to August time frame. To this end, we are opening the floor to
nominations.

There will be certain guidelines that must be met for a nomination to be valid.

They are as follows:
1) Each member may nominate UP TO (and including) 3 members to run for
moderator.
2) A nomination MUST be emailed to yourmove@icdchess.com. You may also choose to
announce it on the CCC board, but unless a nomination is received at
yourmove@icdchess.com, it will not be valid.
3) A nomination MUST come from a member who:
      a) is a member in good standing
      b) has been a member of CCC PRIOR to December 1st, 1999
      c) has an current, active email address on file with us
4) Once we receive the nomination from from a valid nominator, we shall respond
to the nominator and await a reply. Once we receive the reply, the nomination
shall be official. No nominations shall be accepted if received here after 12
noon (New York time) on Sunday, January 23rd. If the email bounces, or, if the
nominator does not respond promptly, the nomination shall be canceled.
5) A nominee MUST:
      a) have been a CCC member PRIOR to December 1st, 1999
      b) respond to our emailed notification that they have been nominated
(responses on the message board will not be accepted as official).
      c) have a valid email address on file with us (if an emailed notification
to a nominee bounces, the nomination shall be null and void).
      d) either use his/her "real" name and/or be prepared to show proof of
identification privately to us in order to be officially placed upon the ballot

We will request that each nominee who accepts supply a biography and
statement of moderation philosophy. We shall post this statement in the Computer
Chess Resource Center on the CCC on Monday, January 24th.

We will accept nominees from now until Sunday, January 23rd. On Monday, January
24th, we shall announce the official nominees. The voting shall begin at that
time and last until 5 p.m. New York time on Monday, January 31st. We shall
announce the 3 winners on January 31st at approximately 6 p.m..

My apologies to the CCC members who would rather the board stay all computer
chess. This election business is a necessary evil which comes twice a year.
