At the risk of being inundated, I'd like to ask for information w.r.t. the FIDE
50-move rule. I'm doing some work on EGTB generation in the context of this
rule.
Please email replies to guy.haworth@icl.com with SUBJECT starting 'FIDE 50'
rather than to this board. I'll summarise the feedback on the board in updates
here and 'at the top' of the board.
First, I would like:
- notes of when and how FIDE changed Ruy Lopez' original, simple 50-move rule.
when did 100 moves for KNNKP come in?
when did 75 moves come in and for which endings?
when did FIDE draw back to 50 moves for all endings (if they have)?
- notes of when these changes came into effect
- references to any games that were draws because of the 50m-rule
White-Black, Year, ECO opening if available
- refs. to texts/URLs quoting the FIDE versions of this law, esp. in ICCA Jrnl.
Rob Hyatt tells me that 'deep wins' are commonplace in play on the web. This
was news to me as I had only heard of a few such wins in AEGON and WCCC
tournaments. I would therefore liket to here of:
- games with phases (between P-push/capture/mate events) > 33 moves
I will probably raise this limit as input comes in
I gather that KRPKR, KQPKQ and KNNKP endings are quite common
- games with 'announced mates' > 33
- games with 'announced mates' > 50 where the defender claimed a '50m' draw
.pgn files would be welcome: again White-Black/yeardate/ECO if poss.
What is the protocol in computer-computer (or other) play with respect to the
50m-rule when both sides have EGTBs? Do the 'drivers' agree not to invoke the
50m rule if an EGTB-win is on the board?
Thanks in advance for relevant input.
Best regards, Guy Haworth
