Go into a bar, pick out the largest biker guy in there, and call him a moron.

See what happens.

Do you think that you would not get "spanked"?

The internet is a fun kind of place since you can communicate with people all
over the world. However, there is a relatively justified belief currently that
you can get away with more on the internet than you can in real life. So, people
with a lack of real self control abuse the system.

This will not always be the case. The internet will be controlled more tightly
eventually. Every system that we have in society that has the option of being
abused eventually has a regulation system. It is inevitable. It will just take a
while before they figure out a good way to do it with the internet, but a lot of
people have been complaining about internet and email abuse, so it is just a
matter of time.

So, I would recommend that you gain the same type of self control here that you
do in real life since someday, you may get banned completely from the internet
for being abusive, not just from a moderated forum.
