In answer to several requests the (Noam Elkies) preface to the maxDTM/maxDTC wtm
KRNKNN position is:
initial position = 1N6/1RK5/5n2/8/8/3R4/5nk1/2N3q1+w
Noam Elkies' preface = 1. Rg3+ Kxg3 2. Ne2+ Kg2 3. Nxg1 Kxg1 {KRNKNN}
... which is (max)DTC = 243 (Stiller, 1994; Thompson, 2000)
(max)DTM = 262 (Thompson, 2000)
