1.The CPU and various other components go through less thermal cycles when left on, and since they are static components, heat expansion is just about all you have to worry about, as far as stresses on the system. So keep the computer on. 2. The monitor - The filament can burn out, probably turn it off, though any monitor should probably last at least 2 years possibly longer if left on continuously, before going bad. 3. Though I suggest leaving the computer on all the time, this can cause the fan to go out($10-$30). This is because the fan is mechanical and always moving I have replaced my fan once in 2.5 years but looks like i will have to replace it agains soon. > >just curious, do most people leave their computers running 24 hours a day, or do >most shut it off?.
