Black uses the weakness of the white pawn formation in this QGD nicely and plays out white with the extra pawn, which makes a checkmate in the end only logical, not briljant. After all one pawn extra should be enough in most cases to win a game, especially between two strong programs. The position was lost for white well before the checkmate even was around the corner. Another opening choice from white or black might lead to quite some different results, so the point of James that there's only a conclusion possible after a lot more games is quite valid.
