Hello James,
That's a fair question! I have explained my progress in earlier post to some
extent but I don't expect you to read my junk. But since you asked. There were
several problems encountered with installing/setting up Chess Tiger. Many were
small irritations which I have found a work around or simple solutions to thanks
to some help here. I still have two small problems which I have found no
solution to. First: I still cannot get it to save games automatically when
playing either on the server or using auto232. Second: I cannot get it to work
properly as "Master" using the auto232 function. It works fine as "Slave" and
that is the way I will use it for now. My main use of programs is watching them
play each other on auto232 or watching them play on the servers vs Higher ranked
Humans or other programs. It is a hobby of mine. So most of the problems were
in the area I use most. Many people would not notice these if they just turn it
on and start playing. I really got started off on the wrong foot with this
program when I inserted the CD ROM and instead of starting a "setup" program to
load the software it started up my AOL software. I still don't know what the
reason for that is. To top off the evening, it was getting late by then, I
played it a quick match vs Junior 6 at blitz and Junior killed it like 8-3 when
I quit. I tried to use it on the ICC to check out that feature and could not
get it to play without a lot of clicking and typing. I since discovered that
there is a better way to do things which is not expressed in the on board manual
which I also think is poor. So put everything together and I was not too happy.
Today I'm a changed man. I still have a couple of problems but overall I'm
satisfied with the program. I have now played over 120 games vs the top
programs and Chess Tiger is difinitely in the same league as Fritz 6/Junior
6/Hiarcs 7.32. So, I may have left out a few details but that's off the top of
my "Old" head right now.
