Hi, I was playing HIARCS7 against itself at a time control of 60 moves in 5 minutes, when the following position arose. [D] 8/bB6/P7/2k5/6r1/3K4/8/8/ b - - White has just played Be4-b7. After this HIARCS just dithers for about 100 moves before it announces a draw. Black sacrifices its Bishop almost 50 moves later, thus maintaining a material advantage, and avoiding the 50-move rule application, but is forced to conceded a draw when the second 50 moves run out. Black is a Rook up, yet HIARCS, albeit at a fast time control, cannot find it. Is the position really a draw? My Chess ability lets me down badly here. I tried to play from this position as Black, but the White Bishop interfered with any mating attack. Would someone care to comment on this? Cheers, Mike.
