This was an exciting game. LambChop got an early advantage winning a pawn and seemed to be cruising. Nimzo sacced to get a dangerous passer, and things got pretty unclear. Eventually LambChop allowed(?) Nimzo to queen, thinking that it could also force a queen with advantage. The following position was at the end of a tactical sequence: [D]8/1R6/P4p2/kP1Rbb1P/1r6/5P1P/4BK2/1q6 w - - Chop's score had been greater than +1, but here it dropped to zero. In fact, I think white is busted. 1.a7 was played, but that ends up getting mated by Bg3!!+. The game variation went 1.a7 Bg3+ 2.Kg2 Bxh3+ 3.Kxg3 Qe1+ 4.Kxh3 Rh4+ 5.Kg2 Qxe2+ 6.Kg2 Kb4 7.a8=Q Qe1+ etc 1.b6+ Ka4 2.a7 Bg3+ is similar 1.b6+ Ka4 2.Rxe5 Qh1! wins for black I think, for example 3.Rxf5 Qh2+ 4.Ke3 Qg1+ 1.Rxe5 Qh1 is similar to the above line Question: how long for other programs to see white isn't well here? Nimzo was showing a white advantage too, although only after a brief ponder and its PV was not sound. All in all, a fun day with plenty of fascination chess! Thanks to McRiley and co for organising it, and thanks to all the other participants.
