My program got squashed by Ferret today, and I'm looking for improvements. Kh1 0-1 Specifically, I'm looking for ways to stop black's 21. f5, because after this move I think black has very good chances. Obviously, 17. Ng3 doesn't do the trick. I've been analyzing 17. g4!, and have come to the conclusion it is probably sound. Unfortunately, Insomniac doesn't realize that while this weakens its king, black has a very hard time exploiting it, and actually white's kingside attacking chances are better (Kh1, Rg1, N-g3-f5, etc.) What do other programs think? Is there a better way to stop ... f5? The other question has to do with the book. I can find no game in Fritz's database with 8. ... c6. It seems to be excellent, and casts doubt on the legitimacy of Insomniac's last book move, 8. b3. The only move in the resulting position Insomniac likes is 9. Bg5, and I don't think it is that good. What does your program recommend? James
