I didn't attempt to verify your quote, but I do remember that Bruce once wrote
that tech support questions were on topic here (influenced by Steve, IIRC.)  You
can dig up any old quotes you like, but consider checking with someone if it's
been a while -- they may have changed their mind.

Bruce provided the reason it was deleted.  Judging from the other responses,
most people are willing to take what Bruce said at face value.  (If you choose
to not believe his reason, that's up to you.)
