Actually we have 4 italian chess engines I'm doing i kind of tournament just to see the level of CC here in italy I thik is the first one beetween italian progs :-) the engines are: 1) Raffaela (Windows version of Drago) by Stefano Gemma (about 1900 on ICC, nickname "gemma") free... for now (only the executable, sources not available) About 1630 on ICC It is the first Italian Program on Internet (AFAIK). http://www.linformatica.com (site temporarly closed) Stefano has programmed Raffaela in assembly and its n/s is impressive! 2) LarsenVb by Luca Dormio free (both executable and sources) About 1800 on FICS Programmed in VISUAL BASIC (!!!) Inspired at the C-program FAILE. http://space.tin.it/clubnet/ludormio the source will be available at the site soon. 3) PcChess (but may be this is not the definitive name) by Carmelo Calzerano Not finished: i think will be available free when finished programmed in C this engine is not finished yet but from the games i saw seems of the same class of Drago and LarsenVB 4) Golem by me Not finished: will be available when finished (I'll make available the source too) Programmed in C until now my program is good only for betting in How many moves sombody will mate him :( Another italian in computer chess is Sandro Necchi. He is not a programmer but a Computer Opening Expert who write the Opening book for the Mchess program. I know too about 5/6 italian programmers who started writing a chess engine, but the 4 above programs are the only ones completed enough to play a game. following you can find the "official" historic games I played between these engines.
