My understanding of the rules is slightly different, but I could certainly be wrong. As I understand it, any non-reversible move would reset the 50 move counter. So not just castling itself, but even the fact that your castling rights change (i.e. if I can still castle both K&Q side, but move my K-side rook, thereby losing my ability to castle K-side), would reset the counter. I don't own a FIDE or USCF rulebook, perhaps someone else can clarify... Michel
