Hi Sarah, First of all let me say that my testing method is not for those of us who have several fast computers for their games. I have one 200MMX only. Both programs are put in equally bad, but constant, conditions. This way I can see if a new program's version does better compared to previous (in my testing environment). The point is to see program's "effectiveness/given time". Let me explain this one a bit. In my games every program is given 60 minutes for a game. There is no hope for additional time as permanent brain is off. Now, if program has a good score at this constant time, there is a good reason to believe that it will be better at any level with PB ON as a successfully guessed move would mean an additional time. More time + higher "effectiveness/given time" = good hope for a win. Returning to Junior I would say it is strong. A very strong and solid program. When I run a couple of test matches among the top ChessBase engines, Junior was one of the best engines and one that was giving a hard time to Fritz 6a. My previous games of Junior 6 (not 6a) vs Tiger 12.0e went equal, both in score and observation. I have no data for any conclusive statements, but I like the way this new 12.0f plays. About 16 MB I would say that it is difficult to give both programs more RAM on a 64 RAM computer. Swapping is not allowed :-). Even in this situation there may occur some seconds long swapping, especially if both programs use tablebases. A tipical example would be Junior vs Chess Tal. Well... I have answered more then you have asked! :-) Sorry about that. And yes, you are right. That Tiger 12.0f = 12.0e + NSEW=1 and MoreSel=1. Have a great chess! Didzis
