I think what it boils down to is this: Some people will take offense at some expressions that others (perhaps the original poster) do not. The real question is, once someone finds out that some behavior is offensive, will they continue in that exact behavior or will they find a suitable alternative? It's not always such an easy thing to see. But once realized, the true intent [to offend, or to engage in discourse] is revealed. Often, when we are insulting we are just being lazy. Not thinking very hard before hitting the posting button, or just flipping out crap off the top of our heads. A tiny bit of effort will turn out verbage that says exactly the same message but in a manner which is more palatable to a large audience. Your (KD's) examples show several instances of this.
