Rich,

Welcome to the forum!

I am a moderator here (for the next few days anyway until the new moderators
take over).

I see that you are just getting into (or back into) chess.

That's great.

As you are now aware (after reading some of the replies to your messages), this
is a computer chess related forum. Therefore, there isn't a lot of discussion
about specific openings or other chess specific topics (such as the world
championships or specific players or good chess books to read).

However, having said that, there are some discussions on these types of topics
occasionally. So, please do not feel that people are trying to shut you down
over it. People tend to forget how it was when they were new to the forum here
(just like people tend to forget when they were 8 years old and didn't know how
to mate with a rook and king vs. a rook).

Please do not let it get you down. It is good to have new people here. It is
obvious that you are making the attempt to combine your interest in openings
with computers in order to generate discussion here. Comparing your post "Which
defence to d4 offers the most traps for catching white off guard?" to your post
"Do computers think 2.c3 is the best way to combat the Sicilian?" illustrates
that you are trying to fit in.

We have had problems in the past with people who insist on being off topic
(usually not even restricting the off topic discussions to chess or even
computers), so that is why some members are a little apprehensive. They will
warm up to you shortly if you continue to combine computer chess into your chess
related queries.

So, good luck with your chess endeavors and feel free to Email me if you have
chess, but not computer chess, related questions.

Glad to have you on board (opps, sorry for the pun).

KarinsDad :)
