There are places where this matters, and places where it doesn't.  In a computer
chess event, over the internet, using automatic interfaces, how the operators
get along is moot.  In a karate event, if two participants don't like each other
then things can get out of hand _quickly_.  I was banned from tournaments in
the late 1970's for one year because something got "out of hand" during a
match.  My opponent was banned too, however. :)

And a few years later we were friends...
