I also had the pleasure of meeting him, as I witnessed a 6-game simul that he played with the Chessmaster team almost exactly two years ago. Of course, he beat everybody, but he was (usually) a wonderful gentleman about it. He couldn't help himself on occasion, however. In one midgame, with an isolated passed e-pawn, he pushed it to e5 and said "Now we make a queen....". In another game, someone blundered early and he took the knight for free, holding it up in front of the person and saying "Why did you give me this piece?" Everybody had a great time, of course. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest... jm
