WinBoard doesn't have this feature, so you would have to code it yourself
if you want it.

Yes, if the difference is only in the starting position and not in the rules
of the game.  For example, FischeRandom or ICC's wild 1 would not work because
they have different castling rules than normal chess.

No, because crazyhouse has different rules from normal chess.  WinBoard
currently supports variant rulesets only in Zippy mode (engine vs. ICS
player).
