No on both accounts. I have looked carefully at _all 12_ of DB vs kasparov. Humans select book openings _all the time_ for their computers. Alex Kure for Nimzo, Jeroen for Rebel. Me for Crafty. Moreland for Ferret. We can't choose moves _during_ a game, but we can set this up _before_ the game, just like GMs do with their teams and seconds prior to a match. All perfectly natural and according to the rules of chess.
