Not exactly true for Amy, since I also finished with 3/7 in 1998. This year Amy
lost to Fritz (a brilliant tactian) and to Patzer who managed to turn a game in
which both programs were seeing white ahead by two pawns into a win for black.
Well done Roland!

In Paderborn I used an not-too-well debugged version of Amy with a parallel
search. After the first round, I found a bug in the table base access code
(which is *not* MP safe it seems). Only after Paderborn I found another bug in
the evaluation function (badly programming on my part, using static variables)
which introduced some scoring inconsistencies.

Anyway, next year will be the 10th IPCCC, and Ulf Lorenz promised to make
something special out of it! Maybe even an opportunity for you guys from the US
to come to good old germany once again? Looking forward to see Tom's program on
a palm pilot competing against P.ConNerS on 160 Pentium CPUs...
