I didn't realize that the source doesn't contain a version number. I guess that Stuart Cracraft added version numbers after I sent him the source. Anyway, it's the last version that I put together for release. The actual date this version was released is 5-23-88. The move generator is much smaller and simpler than versions 3 and up. It would be interesting (to me) if someone were to get this working with winboard and test it against recent versions of Gnu. John
