His word, not >mine. First of all, what the hell would an ICC admin know about it? Just asking. And what would the ICC have to gain from slandering our software? Hmm, never mind. And who claimed ISP problems in Bermuda?! I was on the phone with Bermuda, and relayed the moves for Adams and Seirawan in their first-round matches. One part of the delay was software related, however. Our Java board worked fine then and the problems at the start of the Adams - Deep Junior match were, in order: 1) Carol Jarecki's laptop, on which I had personally tested the our software a few days earlier, wasn't working well even before connecting to the internet so Yasser Seirawan's computer was eventually substituted. 2) Yasser didn't have a regular mouse and of course Adams wasn't going to try to play with a touchpad, so his mouse (and drivers, etc.) had to be installed on Seirawan's computer. 3) The "move authorization" anti-mouse-slip element of our software, which Adams hadn't used in his first match, was now needed because he didn't want to be at a time disadvantage against Deep Junior. (Relaying to a regular board costs the player 3-5 seconds per move. We've worked with sensory boards, but they are so finicky that we would have to have a tech at every site.) This hadn't been tried in our tournament server before and, in the end, it was abandoned in the match. (It does work in our regular playing zone, ironically.) KC is directly responsible for that one, and indirectly responsible by not leaving Adams with perfect playing conditions. However, several players were in worse conditions, although this is hardly an excuse! Saludos, Mig
