I have not tried dumbing down the latest version yet, but the last version was
able to be dumbed down, so I assume the same out of this one.

A program that's probably worth considering for a beginner would be Jari's Nero,
the version that is probably the easiest to adjust the levels on is the 1st
version, Nero 2, it'll ask you a bunch of questions when you start the program,
I think you can just hit "enter" to accept the default settings, and ir's very
clear how to set the level to play.  No mouse support, but you move the pieces
by selecting them with the highlighted square, hitting enter, then using the
arrow keys to move to the next square, hit "enter" again.

Easy to learn how to use, I didn't describe that very well.

Nero 2 is a good program, should work on very old computers, the other versions
are on the download page too: http://www.math.jyu.fi/~huikari/
